Psychological testing and assessment are similar to medical tests. If a patient has physical symptoms, a primary care provider may order X-rays or blood tests to understand what's causing those symptoms. Psychological evaluations serve the same purpose.  Psychologists use tests and other assessment tools to measure and observe a client's behavior to arrive at a diagnosis and guide treatment.  Assessments can be quite brief, taking less than 5 minutes to complete or be very extensive requiring many hours spread out over several days.

Some examples of evaluations/assessments that we might address would include:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Learning Disorders

  • Developmental Disorders

  • Substance Use/Abuse

  • Evaluations ordered by the Court

  • Fitness for duty

  • Law Enforcement Screening

Testing often requires pre-authorization from insurance companies. We complete these forms and submit them to your insurance when needed.  If you have a question about psychological evaluations or testing you may contact Katherine Leahy katherineleahy@scmhcc.org  733-5060, ext.     To schedule an evaluation you may call or come in to any of our clinics or schedule a 1st appointment.
