Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (Asist)
ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. A 2013 study found that callers to a hotline who spoke with ASIST-trained counselors were 74% less likely to be suicidal after the call, compared to callers who spoke with counselors trained in methods other than ASIST. Although widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop. Recommended for school counselors; teachers; and first responders.
Mental Health First Aid
Just as CPR and first aid are intended to help an injured person before proper medical treatment can be provided, Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach the public key skills to help someone developing a mental health problem or crisis. The courses are designed for intervening with either adults or youth to help participants learn how to recognize mental disorders; better understand mental health treatments; be more confident in providing help to others; and to be more comfortable around people with mental disorders. For more information or to schedule a class, contact Carrie Latimer- [email protected] 316-321-6088 ext.109 or Michael McAllister- [email protected] 316-321-6088, Ext. 113.

Love and Logic®
These parenting classes focus on helping children develop personal responsibility, self-control, and good decision making skills. Parents learn to build on their parenting skills through the use of specific techniques in 5 to 6 sessions. Certificates Available.
Conscious Discipline®
These parenting classes define discipline not as something you do to children but something you develop within them. Helps develop skills that break the cycle of "do as I say, not as I do", and to discipline children without permissiveness, aggression, or guilt.
